Non-invasive breath analysis for detection of GI disorders

BEDFONT SCIENTIFIC manufactures and supplies the Gastro+ hydrogen breath monitor (HBT) – a non-invasive, sensitive and specific means of detecting gastrointestinal problems.

HBT is used to measure the amount of hydrogen in a patients’ breath which can be an indicator of lactose intolerance, fructose intolerance, Sorbitol intolerance and bacterial overgrowth, among other things. The lightweight, hand-held monitor features a colour touch screen. It can be used with either a mouthpiece or facemask sampling system, enabling breath samples to be taken from patients of all ages. The GastroCHART Patient Database is included with every Gastro+, allowing healthcare professionals to save up to 10 patients details on the monitor for satellite breath tests. If connected to a PC, readings can be immediately downloaded to an unlimited patient database. Results can then be printed for the patient to retain and record in their medical history.
