Doctors primed for bird flu epidemic

Doctors.net.uk, the doctors’ professional network has delivered online pandemic flu training to over 13,000 UK doctors since its launch in December 2005.

The program was commissioned by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) with the aim of training 10,000 doctors within six months. That target was reached and Doctors.net.uk is now encouraging all 124,000 of its members to participate in the interactive training and assessment course.

Neil Bacon, CEO of Doctors.net.uk commented: “The response of UK doctors to this course has been nothing short of phenomenal. Doctors.net.uk is very pleased to be part of an initiative that will potentially have a huge impact on the health of the UK, and it clearly shows that doctors are willing to participate in online training when it is of high quality, relevant and produced by experts.”
The format of the course consists of a video webcast followed by interactive, case-based training and completed by an assessment, also carried out online.
