Reducing sharps injuries and waste

The SHARPSMART reusable sharps safety collection device has been clinically proven to reduce sharps injuries while also reducing the sharps plastic waste and associated CO2 emissions that are generated from the burning of single use plastic sharps bins.

Inbuilt passive safety features include automatic closure (when full) and hand entry prevention. Sharpsmart’s Auditsmart process provides ongoing optimisation of sharps management procedures, ensuring that users are able to consistently monitor and enhance safety, financial and segregation procedures. At the event the company will be launching the LION (Learning Institute On-Line) E-Learning programme which provides electronic training while ensuring that staff can quickly complete courses without compromising the time they spend caring for patients. The company has also recently introduced a stainless steel instrument collection and recycling process designed to minimise the waste management costs associated with disposal of the single use metal devices.
