DDA compliant communication

CONTACTA’s Clipboard InfoLoop enables healthcare professionals on the move – such as ambulance crew, paramedics, doctors and nursing specialists on home visits – to communicate effectively with hearing-aid wearers, both indoors and out. Particularly in emergency situations, mutual clarity and correct understanding of speech between the patient and those providing treatment or assistance can have a vital added importance.

Those are the obvious practical benefits of using the equipment, but Contacta business development manager Chris Broughton points out that there are now also statutory reasons to ensure that service to patients is not compromised in such situations:

“All service providers – including all arms of the healthcare sector – are subject to the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 which came fully into force in October 2004.

The regulations apply wherever a service is delivered – not just within buildings. So the Clipboard InfoLoop is an effective and convenient solution to help with full DDA compliance in relation to the hard-of-hearing – as well as a boost to the confidence of those treating or helping them.”
