East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Vanguard Healthcare to deploy a mobile day surgery unit at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford to provide flexible extra capacity for surgical procedures.
The day surgery allows consultants to see extra gynaecology patients and free up the hospital’s permanent facilities for other procedures across an array of disciplines, such as orthopaedic surgery. Situated close to the hospital main building, patients are admitted to the day surgery unit, operated on and undergo first stage recovery before being readmitted to the main hospital for second stage recovery and discharge.
