Southampton General Hospital, one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals, is pioneering interactive clinical skills training with the integration of PROMETHEAN AV DISTRIBUTION’s Presenta pad technology into session delivery.
Portable pad aids interaction
The installation of this portable interactive technology has equipped the hospital’s clinical skills department with a powerful, flexible and visual display tool. Roger Smith, clinical skills manager, explained why: “The majority of our work is practical, but we need to be able to switch easily between demonstrating a procedure like venesection to effectively presenting written reference material.
“The Presenta pad can be stored safely in the AV unit – away from the danger of damage from beds being wheeled around – and then, when needed, be switched on to give immediate access to a fully interactive presentation tool.” A wireless graphics tablet, the product provides the freedom to roam around the room or work closely with a group while still maintaining interactive control of the presentation. Linking to a laptop and projector, it allows the trainer to control a PC via the pad and annotate over projected material.
