Time to rethink closure: new non-absorbable polypropylene mesh suture

Duramesh is a mesh suture closure device developed to solve one of surgery’s most common, yet avoidable, problems: failed tissue repairs caused by suture pull-through.

Traditional monofilament sutures concentrate tension at a single point, which can lead to suture pull-through and surgical failure. Duramesh was invented and developed by Mesh Suture Inc.’s surgeon-founder after more than twenty-five years of experience treating abdominal wall and tendon repair complications and reflects a focused effort to improve the reliability of surgical repairs.

Engineered for repair strength and tissue incorporation

Duramesh combines the familiar handling of a traditional suture with the porosity, elasticity, and tension-distribution properties of a mesh. Its large pores stay open, even under tension, diffusing stress at the suture-tissue interface and allowing rapid tissue incorporation of the mesh structure. The Duramesh design supports a stronger and more durable repair1, particularly in high-tension settings where standard sutures may be prone to failure.

Supported by clinical experience

Early clinical evaluations of Duramesh have shown promising results across several key postoperative outcome measures. When compared to similar case series in the literature, surgical site infection rates, fascial dehiscence rates, and sinus tract formation rates have all been lower for Duramesh when compared with standard suture data. These findings reflect the importance of effective tension distribution and rapid tissue integration for a long-lasting, durable surgical repair.

Designed for surgical efficiency

Duramesh is engineered to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows. Surgeons can use familiar suturing techniques while benefiting from its enhanced mechanical properties. Multiple Duramesh sizes support a range of general, reconstructive, orthopedic, and abdominal wall procedures.

Advancing surgical closure

By combining sound engineering with clinical insight, Duramesh introduces a practical and meaningful improvement in surgical closure. Duramesh is the first and only closure device that facilitates incorporation in addition to tissue approximation to help surgeons close with confidence. It’s time to think beyond the common thread.
