COVER STORY: Supporting the whole decontamination cycle

Getinge has invested significantly in developing a dedicated team to support decontamination departments with consumables – ensuring uninterrupted uptime of sterile services, optimal efficiency and cost management, patient safety, as well as sustainability.

Getinge is already known as a leader in washer-disinfector technology, but as part of its vision to support hospital teams throughout every step of the decontamination cycle, it is continuing to look closely at how it can provide a ‘onestop-shop’ for chemistries, drying, storage, testing, and maintenance requirements. As well as providing solutions for the entire decontamination cycle, Getinge’s provision now includes additional investment in extra expert staff with the knowledge and experience to help hospitals address their consumables requirements.

“Decontamination teams can call on the Consumables Team at anytime for advice and help,” explained Chris Hill, national sales manager, infection control, Getinge UK & Ireland. “We want to offer a complete solution – including the capital equipment, the chemistries, consumables, indicators, packing systems, track and trace, service, customer support, and consultancy. Our mission is to support customers throughout every aspect of their day-to-day operation – helping them to keep patients safe, to meet challenging demands for throughput, and reduce the carbon footprint of the NHS.”

As part of these efforts, Getinge is investing heavily in R&D in its wide portfolio of consumables to: “Clean it, Seal it, Assure it”. This includes improvements to popular products and introducing innovative solutions to meet the needs for infection prevention, sustainability, and economy. Some of these solutions are highlighted below:
