SD HEALTHCARE has installed an innovative excimer laser at Moorfields Private, London. It is the first hospital in the UK to install the SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS, which SD Healthcare describes as ‘the quickest and most powerful, commercially available excimer laser.’ The laser system delivers a repetition rate of 1050 Hz.
The AMARIS 1050RS excimer laser platform is the product of continuous development. It offers seven dimensional (7D) improved eye tracking and the ability to create a more natural post-treatment corneal shape and a shorter ablation time minimises the risk of the cornea drying out. It allows a more comfortable procedure as it reduces the length of time the patient has to fixate on the green light.
The AMARIS 1050RS is able to remove the skin layer precisely, in a variation of surface laser treatment called Transepithelial Photoreactive Keratectomy (TransPRK).TransPRK combines precise laser epithelial removal with an ultra-smooth reshaping profile, giving a faster recovery and an earlier return to normal activities for the patient.
