Reducing burden of DVT

There is a growing concern with the issue of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and the implications it can have for hospitalised patients. Up to one in a 1,000 people develop bloods clots in their veins every year and an estimated 60,000 people die from this condition every year in the UK alone.

Through over 30 years of research and development, HUNTLEIGH HEALTHCARE has developed clinically effective, non-invasive, mechanical prophylaxis systems which are proven to dramatically reduce the risk of DVT in patients during all types of major surgery including orthopaedic, trauma, urological and general.

Applying Flowtron compression systems, such as the Flowtron Excel and Flowtron Universal, to a patient’s limb/s helps prevent DVT formation by increasing blood velocity in the deep veins, reducing stasis and stimulating fibrinolyis – the body’s natural method of preventing and breaking down clots.
