The first implant in the UK of the OMEGA Platinum Chromium Bare-Metal Coronary Stent System has been performed by Dr Neal Uren, consultant cardiologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Wiping out antibiotic-resistant bacteria

Research published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology identified multiple antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The study found that built-up tolerance is not the only way bacteria are able to defend against antibiotics.

Bedside monitor

FUKUDA DENSHI has won the contract to supply the Weymouth Street Clinic in London with 19 patient bedside monitors. Weymouth Street Clinic is a new-build facility in the Harley Street area, which went “live” in May 2010. It has selected the multi-parameter DS-7001 monitor, with wireless transmitter for its critical care patients.

Automating blood gas analysis process

An automatic blood gas system from RADIOMETER has been developed to simplify blood sampling and data capture, from the initial ordering of blood gas tests through to receiving results at the point of patient care.
