Cassette based reprocessing system

The CISA Endoscope Reprocessing System (ERS), from BES DECON, utilises a cassette based system. Endoscopes undergo their usual prewash treatment, as with any other system, and are then placed into the cassette where they will remain for washing, decontamination, drying, and transportation.

Once the cassette is sealed it is not opened again until the scope needs to be used. The benefits include:

• Reduced scope maintenance costs as scopes are well protected.
• Avoidance of capital costs incurred when installing pass-through systems.
• Ability to centralise endoscope reprocessing.
• No need to reprocess scopes that have not been used within three hours of reprocessing or 72 hours of drying.
• Lower staffing costs thanks to the system not needing ‘clean’ and ‘dirty’ segregation and single handling.
• Guaranteed track and trace of scopes from start of process to end use.
• Reduced risk of cross-contamination, as scope is not exposed to open air.
