Dedicated intra-operative monitoring service

An independent provider of neurophysiology tests for the NHS, Bespoke Healthcare, has established what it believes is the first dedicated Intra-operative Monitoring (IOM) service in the UK with the launch of a new division.

Healthcare establishments including Oswestry Orthopaedic Hospital, Hope Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital have all commissioned the service, which provides surgeons with immediate feedback and warnings before permanent nerve injury has occurred. The company identified a rise in demand during the last six months, as the importance of monitoring gains prominence with surgeons looking to improve patient treatment and minimise risks during complex spine surgery.
