Cardiac output monitoring

DELTEX MEDICAL has been selected to provide cardiac output monitoring equipment on NHS Supply Chain under a new framework.

The tender was awarded after a competitive process and will allow NHS hospitals to purchase the company’s products directly through the supplier for the first time. Deltex Medical, which produces the CardioQ-ODM, is one of five companies selected to sell and market cardiac output monitoring equipment through NHS Supply Chain. Under the framework, NHS hospitals will now be able to purchase these products directly from NHS Supply Chain. The NHS Supply Chain framework agreement covers an initial period of two years, followed by the opportunity to extend for up to a further two years. ODM (Oesophageal Doppler Monitoring) was recently selected by the Government in its Innovation, Health and Wealth (IHW) report as a high impact technology required for full roll-out across the NHS, with future CQUIN revenues dependent on this. In March 2011, NICE guidance recommended the use of CardioQ-ODM for NHS patients undergoing surgery. NICE found that ODM saves on average £1,100 per patient and could be used in more than 800,000 relevant operations a year in England.
