The mBCA (medical Body Composition Analyzer) from SECA is a diagnostic instrument developed for use in hospitals and medical practices. Body Mass Index (BMI) alone is not enough for extensive analysis of a patient’s health status.
In light of new epidemics including obesity, diabetes, malnutrition and metabolic syndrome, it is no longer sufficient to assess a patients general health based only on weight and height measurements. The mBCA breaks down weight into relevant body compartments – namely, fat mass and fat-free mass, body water (made up of extracellular water and intracellular water) and skeletal muscle mass. Measurements are processed by six analytical modules and presented in easyto- understand graphics. Seca believes it is the only manufacturer in the world that has compared its measurement results with those of the scientific gold standard in clinical studies.
