Guide highlights post-productive health

The Royal Society of Medicine Press has published the latest practical guide on how to manage the menopause.

Management of the Menopause provides upto- date, unbiased and non-promotional information on the menopause. Edited by Margaret Rees and David Purdie, the guide is aimed at GPs and health professionals dealing with menopausal and postmenopausal women. “With the lifespan of women continuing to increase, and with many now surviving well into their tenth decade, the menopause can now be considered to be a mid-life event”, write the editors.

“Thus the problems of post-productive health are becoming key issues for health professionals.” This fourth edition has been significantly revised and updated from the third, which was published in 2003. Most importantly, the evidence base, where available, is presented in the book.
Management of the Menopause is divided into four sections: the menopause and postmenopausal health; assessment and investigations; management strategies; and women with special needs (such as those with a premature menopause).
