Available through NHS Supply Chain, Cygnetic blades from SWANN-MORTON are made from a thicker specification of stainless steel to increase their lateral strength, especially when combined with the Cygnetic handle, which grips the blade firmly on both sides.
The blades are said to be easy to fit as they drop into the handle with little resistance and are tightened for use with the lever mechanism. If the blade needs to be changed, or at the end of the procedure, it can be dropped into a sharps container or counter box so no additional handling of the contaminated sharp is required. Once the procedure has ended the handle can be disassembled by the decontamination department for cleaning then easily reassembled and sterilised before the next procedure.
