Web promotes patient self management

A new web portal has been launched, enabling patients, healthcare professionals and providers to exchange and use information and encourage patient selfmanagement.

NHS.Info has been introduced by Cambridge Healthcare, in partnership with the NHS and Connecting for Health. The portal is in line with NHS policy, acceptable and agreed by all political parties, that patients should have a bigger say in their health management: “No decision about me, without me”. This information system will enable patients, doctors, nurses and others to exchange and use information in an unlimited number of healthcare applications. As well as providing an electronic personal health plan for patients, NHS.Info will create a healthcare application store, encouraging third parties, including medical technology companies and healthcare providers, to design a range of innovative, useful and high quality applications.
