NICE has extended its recommendation on the CardioQ, produced by DELTEX MEDICAL. The blood flow monitor reduces the rates of postoperative complications as well as reducing the length of critical care and overall hospital stay.
The NHS Technology and Adoption Centre has actively supported the uptake of CardioQ in a number of hospitals, publishing a detailed How to Why to Guide about its implementation. NTAC worked with three NHS hospitals across England implementing Doppler guided intraoperative fluid management into their routine clinical practice. Patient outcomes were measured in 1,200 cases. The results demonstrated that encouraging research data can be reproduced in routine NHS clinical and operational practice with a three day reduction in hospital stay and fewer postoperative complications for patients.
