- BRAUN MEDICAL has introduced a range of non-antibiotic products designed to prevent the spread of infections including NDM-1. The NDM-1 bug was found for the first time last summer in two hospitals in the UK.
In 2010 the Health Protection Agency reported 43 cases of the infection. The Prontoderm range of products can be used repeatedly by patients – unlike antibiotic-based products – and is also effective against NDM-1; MRSA and MSSA. The range is designed as a leave on product and is said to be kind to the skin. The company offers a range of non-antibiotic skin treatments, nasal gels, and mouthwashes designed to protect patients from infection.
