The ClearVu flexible inflow-outflow cannula, available from YORK MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES, is said to conform to the knee-joint contour through a full range of motion to deliver uninterrupted fluid flow and image clarity, even in a figure-four position.
The flexibility maintains continuous irrigation for maximum visibility and use of the cannula can cut operating time by eliminating persistent procedure interruptions caused by repositioning a metal cannula to re-establish visualisation. In addition, the non-conductive polymer construction of the cannula protects soft tissue and articular surfaces from potential damage while insulating RF devices from “short out” even upon direct contact. The cannula promises flow rates of 1.0 l/min using gravity, in a smaller diameter, reducing the need for a larger incision site to achieve efficient fluid flow.
