Patients Rights Bill could damage patient care in Scotland

Under new legislation outlined in Scotland’s Patients Rights Bill, Health Boards will be required to ensure that patients are treated within 12 weeks of agreeing to a treatment.

BMA Scotland has warned, however, that this treatment time target will have negative consequences for both patients and the NHS. It argues that the target will create an inflexible system that could have the effect of patients being rushed into treatment.
