The LINX Reflux Management System from TORAX MEDICAL is designed to provide Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) patients with a permanent solution by restoring the physiologic function of the Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES).
The LINX system consists of a series of independently linked titanium beads, each containing a magnetic core. Once placed around the LES, the attraction between the beads provides a calibrated augmentation of the sphincter function; preventing reflux while still allowing normal swallow function and the release of elevated pressure from the stomach, e.g. vomiting. The LINX device can be placed in a 30 minute laparoscopic procedure. Patients can return home on the day of the procedure and may return to a normal diet immediately. The LINX system is CE marked and is currently being introduced to select centers in the EU.
