Angry reaction to increments proposals

The Royal College of Nursing says that members’ angry reaction to a proposal from NHS Employers to freeze incremental pay for NHS staff means the RCN is likely to reject the plans.

RCN chief executive and general secretary, Dr Peter Carter, says members have been saying “loud and clear” that the proposal is divisive and will not work. “The RCN has led the way in a wide consultation with members who have spoken up. I have said clearly that the proposal as it stands is ill thought-out and enough is enough.”
