The technology incorporates nano-sized particles of silver in the polyurethane of the catheter, allowing the release of bactericidal concentrations of silver ions from both the inner and outer surfaces of the catheter when in contact with fluids. To maximise efficiency and cost benefit, most Logicath and Logicath AgTive catheters are available in a full kit version including a drape and a sutureless catheter fixation device.
