Register now for ‘Completing the Picture’ 2010

The 2010 Completing the Picture educational symposium will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre, Warwickshire, which holds the world's largest collection of historic British cars. This free event takes place on Thursday 1 July 2010 and is especially for clinical and biomedical engineers, promising to deliver more insightful and innovative presentations than ever before.

This well respected meeting, which is now entering its 9th year, is widely regarded for improving levels of clinical knowledge among biomedical engineers. The event is sponsored by an educational grant from Welch Allyn and has been submitted to the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) for recognition.

10.00am: How to Maintain Positive Airway Pressure, Dr Graeme Wilson, Consultant in Respiratory Medicine & Honorary Senior Lecturer, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

10.40am: Advances in pacemaker defibrillator technology, Dr Tim Edwards, Consultant, Dorset County Hospital.

12.25pm: Presentation: Clinical Engineering Team of the Year Award Winner, Presented by Dr Derek Pearson, Professional Adviser to the Modernising Scientific Careers Programme, Department of Health.

1.40pm: Workshop: How the cuff size affects the blood pressure reading, Dr John Amoore, Consultant Medical Physicist, and Andrew Davie, Medical Physicist, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

2.20pm:Implementing RFID Tracking – Case Study, Jason Britton, Principal Clinical Scientist, St. James' Hospital, Leeds.

3.10pm:The effective maintenance of 21st century equipment, Paul Robbins, IPEM working party on the guidance of practical application of risk management methodology to medical device management.
