Improved care for trauma patients

With acute trauma treatment a major focus for many UK Trusts, SIEMENS MEDICAL SOLUTIONS has introduced a new concept for streamlining the workflow for treating trauma patients within hospitals.

The objective of the solution, developed in conjunction with clinical teams, is to stabilise, diagnose and prepare seriously injured emergency patients for additional treatment as quickly and as effectively as possible. A number of hospitals in Holland (Amsterdam), Austria (Linz, Wels) and Germany (Wolfsburg, Würzburg, Ingolstadt) are already using this new trauma solution to ensure better and faster patient care. Essentially, the trauma solution consists of five components: a patient transport system developed especially for this purpose, a life support trolley (LST) that is coupled to the transport system, a treatment table named Koordinat ORT, a flexible digital X-ray system Vertix MD Trauma and a mobile computed tomography system. This new trauma concept enables complete diagnosis and anaesthetic stabilisation in the shortest time possible, allowing for optimally planned and performed operations. Patients are cared for in the best possible way and consequent damage can be reduced as much as possible.
