MÖLNLYCKE HEALTH CARE, a manufacturer of surgical gloves, has launched a non-latex, double gloving solution – the new Biogel PI Indicator Underglove – which helps to protect against latex protein allergies, as well as blood-borne viruses.
The colour change indicator system provides an immediate and clear warning of perforations, significantly improving staff and patient safety. Made from Polyisoprene and with no extractable natural rubber proteins, the Biogel PI over glove has superior resistanc to break and tears. Professor Nadey Hakim, from the International College of Surgeons (past president), supports the indicator system. He commented: “Using the new Biogel PI Indicator system gives me reassurance that I am going to immediately detect any punctures. This protection against blood-borne viruses inspires complete confidence when operating on patients with diagnosed or suspected transmissible infections.”
