Eyegard is a patented solution for protecting patients’ eyes during anaesthesia. Tape does not provide sufficient protection and is not recommended by the AfPP. However, the association’s Standards and Recommendations for Safe Perioperative Practice; Recommendation 2.11.13, states that “eye-pads fit for the purpose” should be used. In fact, the company’s Eyegard literature is endorsed by the AfPP. Recent NICE recommendations on core temperature monitoring during anaesthesia, propose a temperature monitoring regime, ideally suited to Crystaline forehead liquid crystal temperature strips.
