First aid for non-clinical NHS staff

The STA has confirmed that NHS Managers responsible for workplace training are getting ready to implement the new one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification which comes into effect from 1 October 2009.

As one of only a few HSE recognised Awarding Bodies currently eligible to award employers who only want to run the new one-day EFAW course, the STA has received a significant amount of enquiries and interest from NHS managers wanting to organise courses for non-clinical staff. From 1 October 2009, the HSE is changing the format for First Aid at Work (FAW) by reducing the current four-day course to a three-day format and by introducing a new one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification.
