New endoscopy unit to benefit patients in Cumbria

As part of a Managed Equipment Service (MES) contract, Ergéa UK has partnered with North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust (NCIC) to deliver a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.

This £15 million facility will bring substantial healthcare benefits to the people of Cumbria, streamlining access to diagnostic services and significantly reducing waiting times.

By delivering this solution, Ergéa is helping the Trust address capacity challenges and upgrade procedure rooms with a cost-effective approach that ensures the unit is completed a year faster than traditional methods. The design includes flexible expansion provisions to meet growing demand, ensuring the hospital can scale its services as healthcare needs evolve.

Ergéa is working closely with Actiform to develop this unit using the latest Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). This innovative approach ensures that the facility is both environmentally friendly and cost-effective – providing patients with timely access to accurate diagnoses.

Mr. Daya Karat, Consultant Surgeon at NCIC, commented, “The new facility will provide more clinic rooms, all of which meet modern standards, something we couldn’t achieve in the current environment. Expanding our endoscopy service will allow for quicker diagnoses and help us meet the growing demand for this service. It also brings the unit in line with the high standards set at West Cumberland Hospital following its redevelopment in 2015."

Ergéa’s collaboration with NCIC in building this new endoscopy unit underscores our commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality in underserved areas across the UK and Ireland.
