Bone cement experts

The development of the first permanent artificial hip joint and licensing of Palacos are milestones in cemented arthroplasty.

Palacos was developed by HERAEUS in 1959 and is today seen as the gold standard. The durability of cemented artificial joints depends not only on the quality of the prosthesis and the bone cement but also on the cementing techniques, which are continually being improved. Therefore, Heraeus is committed to medical education.

Palacademy, the education programme on bone cements and arthroplasty, offers advanced and interactive training for OT-staff. In addition to educational live sessions, Palacademy is also available on the internet offering online learning modules about bone cement, mixing techniques and latest surgical techniques.
