EBME conference announced

The National Biomedical and Clinical Engineering Conference is scheduled this year for the 15 October at the National Motorcycle Museum. This popular conference attracts a large audience drawn mainly from the EBME profession.

The theme of the conference this year will be “empowered to deliver”, with the keynote speaker being Brian James, chief executive of Rotherham General Hospital. Rotherham Hospital featured in the TV series “Can Gerry Robinson fix the NHS?”

Other subjects of interest will include the experiences of setting up a “virtual medical device library”, the impact of wireless technology, and litigation and the biomedical engineer.

John Mead, the technical claims director of NHS Litigation Authority, and a respected name in the insurance world, will bring a wealth of expertise and experience in handling complex claims.

A panel discussion was introduced successfully last year and will be repeated this year. The main topic will be state registration and the biomedical profession.
