As a Rapid Review Panel (RRP) level 1 recommendation firm, BARD has been listed on the NHS, www.clean-safe-care.nhs.uk website, which aims to provide information on reducing healthcare acquired infections (HAIs).
The Bardex I.C Foley catheter was recognised by the RRP to reduce HAIs and was the first medical device to receive a Level One recommendation from the RRP. The Bardex I.C report and evidence matrix are listed within the website under the HAI technologies tab on the home page.
The catheter offers a combination of slow release silver ions and a hydrogel coating which can reduce the incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infections by 32-69% compared to standard catheters. This innovative technology reduces the ability of bacteria to bond to the catheter surface.
