Design awards for B. Braun

Two products from the Aesculap Division of B. Braun Medical have won a coveted design accolade. The OrthoPilot surgical navigation system, used in knee and hip replacements, and the battery powered Acculan 3Ti surgical motor system, were recognised in the iF Product Design Award 2008 Medicine and Healthcare category against global competition.

OrthoPilot is a computer-aided navigation system which helps surgeons to achieve exact positioning of knee and hip prostheses. This system is helping to reduce complications following surgery and virtually eliminates the risk of replacement joints failing due to misalignment. Acculan 3Ti, is the latest generation of battery driven motor system for powering surgical drills, saws and other tools used in orthopaedic, trauma and heart surgery.
