neodisher® PreStop – for the Pre-Treatment of Surgical Instruments

Being used by NHS Trusts across the UK, Dr Weigert’s neodisher® PreStop is a corrosion inhibitor that is sprayed onto surgical instruments directly after use in operating theatres.

The unique spray foam formulation prevents the drying of surgical residues onto instruments, facilitating better and easier cleaning in the CSSD.

neodisher® PreStop reliably prevents the pitting corrosion of surgical instruments caused by organic and persistent operating-theatre residues such as blood or physiological saline. The solution protects the stainless-steel from irreparable damage, ensuring the longevity of the materials and the long-term value and usefulness of the instruments themselves.

By keeping the instruments wet, neodisher® PreStop prevents the drying of surgical residues allowing instruments to be stored for up to 72 hours post-procedure. The unique bacteriostatic formula inhibits the growth of micro-organisms on the instruments during contact time which in turn improves the safety of the personnel associated with the handling and reprocessing of the instruments.

neodisher® PreStop is a non-hazardous product according to the CLP-Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. It is recommended that neodisher® PreStop is sprayed undiluted directly onto the surgical instruments directly after surgery ensuring complete wetting in the disposal container. It is then advised to keep the disposal container closed for a maximum of 72 hours or prior to decontamination. For the subsequent reprocessing, neodisher® PreStop is simply rinsed off and the instruments reprocessed as usual.
