Cancer unit plans £35 m expansion

The Christie Hospital in Manchester has announced a £35 m expansion which includes the development of an “early trials unit” for cancer treatments and new chemotherapy services.

Some 2,400 patients per year will be the first to benefit from the latest innovative therapies, while the development will double the number of trials undertaken. Chemotherapy treatments will increase from 30,000 to 36,000 per year.
