Harrogate Nightingale to implement Silverlink PAS to support staff and patients amid Coronavirus pandemic

The new Nightingale Hospital set to open at Harrogate Convention Centre to support the increasing number of patients with Covid-19, will be underpinned a leading Patient Administration Systems (PAS), designed specifically for the NHS.

Silverlink will support the new 500 bed hospital during this time of crisis by providing its PCS PAS to admit patients and track them across beds, bays and wards, meanwhile providing simple integration with additional clinical systems that will be implemented to monitor capacity and support patient care.

The decision to choose Silverlink was made by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust last week and was largely based on the benefits of using a system that has been successfully used by the hospital for more than 20 years.

By extending the existing system, not only will healthcare professionals be able to admit new patients from across Yorkshire and the Humber, but access underlying data about patients from across Harrogate. In addition, the Nightingale will be able to draw on the existing skills that the local healthcare management teams have built up following decades of using the system, as well as ensuring that all the staff involved in patient care will need little or no training.

The technology, which is one of the most widely-used PAS in the NHS is currently installed at 13 Acute Trusts, covering over 50 hospitals and supporting 15 million patients in the UK. Silverlink has taken the decision to provide the extended use of its PCS PAS free of charge for at least three months in order to support the NHS during the unprecedented demand on services.

Tim Quainton, Managing Director, Silverlink Software said: “The Nightingale Hospital is being delivered at pace, so the requirement to have a safe, reliable, trusted and proven system in place immediately to support staff during this time of crisis is absolutely paramount.

“Covid-19 has meant that the NHS is facing an unprecedented logistical, financial and clinical challenge, and we believe that technology needs to be simple to use and easy to deploy with high quality product support to help relieve some of the burden.”
