Improved probes for CardioQ

DELTEX MEDICAL has launched improved, more comfortable probes for the CardioQ oesophageal Doppler monitor. Developed in response to clinicians’ feedback, the new I2P probes are much more flexible than the standard probes, which means they can now be used comfortably in patients under mild or no sedation.

It has long been recognised that, in order to achieve the best results, patients’ fluids should be managed from the very beginning of the operation right through to recovery or critical care beds after surgery. The new I2P probes can be used in both the operating theatre and on the wards. They also allow for patients to be woken earlier in intensive care and high dependency units, and thereby recover faster.

Because the I2P probes are more comfortable, they can also be used in surgery on patients not under a general anaesthetic. It is increasingly common for many hip and knee operations to be performed under spinal anaesthesia with the patient awake, and these new probes will allow them to be monitored and fluid optimised for the first time.
