Completing a Trust-wide installation

The Clinical Services Journalexamines how Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is completing the Trust-wide installation of endoscope washer-disinfectors.

When Sandra Marshall, endoscopy matron Trust-wide, knew that Northumbria Specialist Care Hospital, Cramlington, was taking the steps to creating an endoscopy department in that facility, she knew that there was a specific requirement for a machine that would be appropriate. 

The Trust already had experience of Wassenburg having installed one of the company’s pass-through endoscope washerdisinfectors at North Tyneside urology in April 2014

“All the manufacturers gave us their information,” said Sandra. “James Doherty, the capital sales area account manager with Wassenburg, invited us to a facility where their machines were installed, so that we could speak to the staff there about their experiences and the reliability. It was Barnsley Hospital.
