Within the healthcare segment you can find Getinge’s products and solutions in sterile services departments, operating theatres, intensive care facilities and cardiology departments – with the aim to support better clinical outcomes and rapid recovery

Here you also find Getinge’s advanced IT systems which are designed for more efficient workflows and management of sterile equipment, enhancing productivity and mitigating the risk of getting a hospitalacquired infection. Getinge also offers both common and highly specialised processes for contamination prevention in biopharmaceutical production, biomedical research and medical device manufacturing for the life science business.

Collaboration is key to everything Getinge does, and the company is committed to searching for cross-therapy innovations and fostering new scientific discoveries. Knowledge and best practices are constantly shared to improve patient outcomes, and, there is a focus on combining systems into one holistic offering that can be individually tailored to connect and optimise workflows across hospital departments.

The range of solutions

Sterile reprocessing solutions

Getinge’s flexible solutions for the complete SSD are designed to ensure that medical instruments are cleaned, disinfected and sterilised efficiently, and on time. As a full service partner, the company offers a range of fully integrated sterile reprocessing solutions. The range includes combinations of capital equipment, OEM consumables and software uniquely suited to each facility’s specific needs. Through close collaboration with its customers, Getinge’s specialists take on the responsibility of designing, implementing and maintaining the safest and most productive SSD and flexible endoscope reprocessing unit.

The easy-to-follow systems have been developed to enable hospitals to increase throughput of sterilised instruments, with the highest level of infection control. They are supported with a tangible plan for preventing patient infections, thus reducing damage or loss of valuable instruments, and securing continuous compliance and staff support.

Operating theatre solutions

Getinge has been designing and developing innovative equipment in theatre’s for over a century, working with clinicians around the world to understand their changing needs. This shared knowledge is the basis of all its operating theatre systems, designed to ensure surgical workplaces and procedures are as comfortable, safe and effective as possible.

The operating theatre portfolio is designed to be as comprehensive as possible, ranging from operating theatre tables, LED lighting, and ceiling supply units, to multimedia, workflow management and advanced clinical therapies.

By combining all the solutions into one holistic offering, Getinge aims to help create world-class facilities that are uniquely tailored to each hospital’s needs. The architectural planning specialists can help ensure unique integration between operating theatres, intensive care, and sterile reprocessing. The result is a seamless patient flow, efficiency, and an investment that will perform for decades to come.

Intensive care solutions

The intensive care unit (ICU) is a critical and costly environment. Getinge focuses on developing user-friendly and reliable solutions that help achieve tangible and costeffective patient outcomes for difficult-to-treat patients. Getinge aims to improve clinicians’ ability in intensive care, to save more lives, and reduce long-term complications. The offering includes life supporting solutions for post-operative patients, patients with acute medical conditions, and for neonates. With the advanced life support and patient monitoring technologies, the company partners with its customers to ensure that every treatment goes according to plan, with improved clinical outcomes and reduced length of stay.

Experienced intensive care specialists collaborate with clinicians to find the right combination of technologies and setups for their unique care environment. With workflow expertise and hands-on training, Getinge aims to increase productivity, staff confidence, and enhance the ability to save lives.

Cardiovascular procedure solutions

Getinge’s cardiovascular therapies and solutions are designed to ensure more effective interventions, where patients experience better outcomes and faster recovery. As a partner for cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures, the organisation offers technology and knowledge to improve the clinical experience before, during, and after surgery. Its solutions are said to support faster patient recoveries, minimise infections, and reduce risk of complications. According to Getinge, this is why customers consistently experience easy to use solutions, suited to meet their needs, the moment it’s needed.

The products for open heart surgery, advanced monitoring technologies and minimally invasive therapies make it easier for clinicians to conduct successful surgeries and enhance visibility - and awareness - of patient status. To support this expertise in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, Getinge provides the Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) systems. There have been over 2.5 million EVH procedures worldwide, and each new generation of this technology has been developed in partnership with the specialists who use them in daily practice.1 This procedure is at the forefront of technological advances that improve vessel harvesting for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The EVH procedure leads to faster recovery, better clinical outcomes, and enhanced patient satisfaction.

A trusted partner for large healthcare projects

Whether investing in a new building, a modernisation or expansion, selecting the right partner is crucial for smooth implementation. Getinge offers complete design concepts that take today’s needs and tomorrow’s growth into account. The long-sighted planning and workflow analysis makes use of all current resources, while leaving plenty of space for future changes. And with its flexible commercial solutions, the company aims to help provide best-in-class care and grow businesses in a competitive environment.

An experienced Getinge project manager acts as a trusted partner, coordinating, planning and supervising each project in order to achieve efficient results in the specified time frame. As the personal contact, this coordinator gains agreement and coordination among all involved specialists, handles project management tasks, and ensures the smooth implementation of all project phases; ensuring even the most complex projects are clear and traceable at all times. With a combination of careful planning and professional project management, Getinge says it lays the foundation for investment assurance and future-proofing, including designs that are economical and flexible. This means customers are always in a position to respond timely to trends, technologies and requirements.

Flexible commercial solutions

Coping with day-to-day demands can be challenging. Capital budgets are often cut to pay for unforeseen rises in day-to-day spending - leaving little scope to replace older infrastructure. To manage rising demand, hospitals need to invest in new technology and innovations, so they can treat more patients, more efficiently in the future. However, with capital resources limited, or committed years ahead, they may not have the money to invest.

The new flexible commercial solutions offering from Getinge, together with the NHS, help find a solution that enables Trusts to get the equipment they need, when they need it, with complete certainty over costs. The customer can choose how long they want the contract to run, depending on their needs and priorities. They specify the levels of service they need to deliver the best patient care and, once these levels are set, they will be part of the service level agreement in the contract. Getinge provides technicians at the location whenever they are needed to deliver on this promise.

Getinge can develop solutions for any - or all - hospitals settings, from A&E, through the intensive care unit and operating theatre, to the SSD, providing equipment and knowhow that seeks to improve patient outcomes and support clinical staff, making their lives easier and more efficient.

2019 highlighted products

The new Getinge S-8668T model in the 86-series washerdisinfectors has been developed to increase reprocessing throughput within the CSSD. With the turbo multitasking technology available for the S-8668T model, processing time can be cut by up to 25% and thereby reduce overall utility consumption.

Getinge GSS610H is a new steam steriliser built on a platform that is engineered in cooperation with CSSD staff. It brings the same features as the GSS67H, but with a spacious chamber that comes in four different depths, enabling large loads with ease. As the other steam sterilisers in the portfolio, GSS610H integrates with existing sterilisation departments to optimise throughput.
