New range of drapes

The 3M range of Ioban 2 antimicrobial incise drapes can help to reduce the risk of an infection occurring by preventing bacterial recolonisation around the surgical site.

This range has now been enhanced with the introduction of the 6661 framed delivery drape, which has been specifically designed for minimally invasive surgical procedures and those requiring a small surgical incision. 3M has incorporated the special delivery system from its Tegaderm transparent film dressings into the Ioban antimicrobial incise drape 6661 EZ.

It has applications for many surgical procedures where Ioban drapes may not be currently used:

• General surgery for hernia repairs with mesh implants.
• Cardiac catheter labs for pacemaker insertion and replacement.
• Paediatric surgical procedures.
• Orthopaedic procedures on hands and feet.

3M has also developed a drape specifically for vaginal procedures. This drape has a pressure sensitive, adhesive aperture, offering secure adhesion throughout the procedure ensuring the drape stays in place.

The adhesive is gentle on the patient’s skin and is easily removed. The drape is made from Steri-Drape 9000 fabric, which is absorbent and impervious preventing strikethrough and subsequent contamination of the operative site and reducing the likelihood of fluid spillage onto the floor.

The leggings are 135 cm long, making the drape compatible with most operating table and stirrup configurations.
