Renowned US hospital group takes first step in UK partnership

Construction to transform 15 Portland Place into a new premium health clinic is nearing completion, ahead of the first launch from a new joint venture between two of the world’s leading names in healthcare and medical research.

Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic sees US hospital group Mayo Clinic and Oxford University Clinic, itself a joint venture between the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, collaborate to open a new premium healthcare facility in the Harley Street Medical Area, part of The Howard de Walden Estate. The new facility will mark Mayo Clinic’s first foray into the UK healthcare market.

The clinic, due to launch this summer, will offer preventative medicine, screening and diagnostic services, including personalised health plans tailored to both individual and corporate clients. The new clinic will also be able to draw on the world-class expertise of the two parent organisations – offering access to an unrivalled network of global health experts and offering a highly personalised approach to preventative healthcare.

Located directly opposite the BBC, the new clinic at 15 Portland Place will make a unique contribution to this esteemed medical district.

Ben Hume, clinic manager, Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic, said: “After months of building work, we are now entering the final phases of construction, where we can finally see the clinic’s client and medical spaces taking shape. When it comes to preventative healthcare, we believe there is a gap in the market and an appetite for healthcare which is not only high quality, but highly personalised and tailored to the needs of the individual. We are now counting down the months until opening and look forward to welcoming our first clients this summer.”

With the state-of-the-art MRI and CT machines now successfully installed, the clinic is on track to open its doors in summer 2019. More information about the new clinic and its services will be available ahead of the clinic launch this summer.

The Harley Street Medical Area is a collective of hospitals, clinics and specialists who deliver outstanding patient care through pioneering treatments and cutting-edge technologies. The area, managed by long-term landlord The Howard de Walden Estate, brings together a community of world-renowned medical professionals.

Simon Baynham, property director for the Howard de Walden Estates, said: “We are delighted that Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic will be joining us as part of the Harley Street Medical Area. We have always strived to be at the forefront of advancing global medical practices in central London and the arrival of this new clinic will no doubt help cement this status even further.”
