Patient Safety, Theatres and Endoscopy Event

Quality Improvement for Surgical Teams (QIST) launched The Theatre/Endoscopy Patient Safety Day on 14 June 2018 at Marriott Gosforth Hotel Newcastle. Technical Editor Kate Woodhead RGN, DMS, attended the event hosted by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Quality Improvement for Surgical Teams at the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have demonstrated over a number of years that they can put on a great event – as they do in October each year.

This was a new venture, held in June at the Marriott Hotel in Newcastle, and was focused on patient safety in operating theatres and endoscopy.

The day was designed for teams to share experiences and learn together on key safety issues when undertaking invasive procedures in theatres and endoscopy. Topics covered included: human factors; duty of candour; NatSIPPs; and national IR1 themes in operating theatres.
