Partnership aims to protect children from the dangers of UV

Hand hygiene and skin care specialist, Deb, has reaffirmed its ongoing partnership with Skcin, the national skin cancer charity, by stepping up its marketing activity and support.

Established in 2006, Skcin’s mission is to educate and raise awareness on the subject of sun safety and the early detection of skin cancers in order to save lives.

To reinforce its seven-year partnership and continued support to the charity, Deb has increased its level of activity to further highlight the importance of accessible sunscreen systems for UK primary schools.

Paul Jakeway, marketing director at Deb, said: “We’re delighted to continue our ongoing partnership with Skcin through heightened activity. Young children spend a significant amount of time outdoors whilst at school and are exposing their skin to harmful UV rays. It is a misconception that protection is only required when the sun is out. Eighty per cent of the sun’s UV rays can pass through clouds, therefore it’s crucial that pupils have access to sunscreen and dispensers all year round and also understand the importance of keeping safe while outdoors."

Since the partnership began, Deb has supported Skcin’s Sun Safe Schools Awareness campaign, a UK accreditation scheme that aims to prevent skin cancer through education. The scheme provides schools with access to educational resources, lesson plans and specially designed Sun Cream Dispensers, including Skcin’s own Sunscreen product range which has been implemented across more than 3300 UK primary schools.

Marie Tudor, business development manager at Skcin, added: “The support of Deb has truly made a difference over the years and we’re thankful for their continued support which we believe is making a difference to pupils and schools across the UK. Together, we’re changing young people’s perceptions and educating them when it counts the most.”
