As the first line of defence for both patients and perioperative practitioners from bloodborne viruses and other infections, the surgical gown is of great importance.
The gowns are reported to have a new ergonomic design that allows for freedom of movement with improved comfort and fit.
They have longer arms to minimise the risk of cuff sliding and are said to provide a good fit with gloves. They come in a range of sizes and to simplify the selection process, the gowns have been divided into four product lines: Basic, Standard, Special and Extra. Features of the Extra product line include microporous breathable gown material, a long hook and loop fastener, an overlapping back, and an EN 13795 High Performance rating. They are also impermeable to all body fluid.
