HydroClean® plus Named ‘Most Innovative New Dressing’

HARTMANN has won another award for its groundbreaking HydroClean® plus dressing.

Winning the top award in the ‘Most Innovative New Dressing’ category at the Journal of Wound Care Awards 2017, HydroClean® plus was recognised for changing the way wounds are treated and for its impact on patients’ lives.

Commenting on the award win, Karen Woosey, Marketing Director at HARTMANN, says: “As we draw closer to HARTMANN’s 200-year anniversary, we are honoured to receive an award that acknowledges our unwavering commitment in developing high-quality reliable wound care solutions that deliver efficiencies in costs and time.  With the challenges currently facing the NHS, the need for simple, effective, economical wound solutions that improve patient outcomes is more important than ever.”

HARTMANN’s HydroClean® plus is a patented Hydro-Responsive Wound Dressing (HRWD®), which promotes autolytic debridement through effective cleansing across the majority of wounds. An all-in-one dressing, HydroClean® plus aids debridement and moist wound bed preparation, resulting in improved healing outcomes and ultimately patient quality of life.

Powered by its unique Rinsing-Absorption Mechanism, HydroClean® plus removes necrosis and devitalised tissue via autolysis. The dressing is proven to significantly reduce Matrix Metalloprotease (MMPs) levels – one of the main culprits of delayed wound healing – by up to 87 percent. Simultaneously, superabsorbent polyacrylate (SAP) particles in the pad continuously release Ringer’s solution to keep the area moist for up to three days.

HydroClean® plus creates an ideal moist wound environment, which supports rapid debridement and reduces pain during wear time.

HydroClean® plus is safe, light and conforms well to the wound surface; while the easy-to-remove silicone strips keep the pad from sticking to the wound, resulting in less pain for patients at dressing changes.

HydroClean® plus is the first step in HARTMANN’s two step HydroTherapy Technology.  The dressing is used to cleanse the wound and stimulate healthy granulation tissue.  To speed up wound closure, step two of HydroTherapy is HydroTac®, a Hydro-Responsive Wound Dressing with AquaClear™ Technology, which boosts the concentration of growth factors and increases the activity of epithelial cells.
