New ultrasound platforms arrive

SIEMENS MEDICAL SOLUTIONS has introduced two new 'X-class' ultrasound platforms, the ACUSON X500 and ACUSON X300. Both systems have a new ergonomic design and combine this with fully-featured performance and innovative features normally found only on premium systems.

Their excellent image quality coupled with penetration up to 30 cm enables uncomplicated examination of patients who are difficult to scan. The systems feature newest technology flat panel design and are suitable for daily clinical routine, as well as for more complex cardiovascular examinations, challenging 3D/4D examinations, paediatrics or internal medicine.

Acuson X500 is a flexible system suitable for a wide range of applications. It provides optimal resolution for 2D, 3D and 4D image generation. The introduction of a new and innovative feature in the Arterial Health Package gives enhanced ability to assess risk of future cardiovascular events by utilising measurements of the carotid Intima Media Thickness.

A sophisticated reporting package uses these to assess patients’ vascular age. Features such as the fourSight 4D, extra lightweight transducers and ability to use linear transducers in sector format, provide imaging flexibility combined with the superior ergonomics synonymous with Siemens. Tissue Gain Optimisation Plus gives instant image optimisation to speed workflow. In addition, expanded cardiac applications such as Stress Echocardiogram have been integrated.

Acuson X300 (pictured) is an ultracompact, performance orientated system. Its light weight and compact size makes it ideal for mobile applications. The full range of features gives flexibility in all scanning environments from radiology, internal medicine or obstetrics/gynaecology, to basic cardiology examinations. Its complexity and strength make the X300 a true workhorse in modern ultrasound diagnostics.

The “Generation NeXt” also provides solutions for offlinework such as the Syngo ultrasound workstation – consisting of the fourSight View Tool for obstretics/gynaecology and the Syngo ultrasound workplace for cardiology. These new features allow the user to re-work, evaluate and add examination results independent of system or patient.
