Five steps to help reduce HCAIs

VYGON’s focus at the coming Infection Prevention 2014 meeting will be its aim at ZERO campaign. Launched earlier this year, aim at ZERO focuses on key products to target healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs), supporting the national epic3, Winning Ways, and Matching Michigan guidelines in reducing infection rates to zero.

The products have been grouped into five steps to help reduce HCAIs and associated on-costs:

Step 1 - Preparation: VYSET Custom Packs deliver all the components needed in a single sterile unit, improving aseptic control which in turn leaves patients less exposed to HCAIs.

Step 2 - Application: VENE-K is a single-use, one-handed disposable tourniquet. Reusable tourniquets have been shown to be colonised with bacteraemia such as MRSA.

Step 3 - Insertion: MaxFlo Expert PICC is a CT-rated, silver impregnated peripherally inserted central venous catheter. Multistar is an antibiotic incorporated chlorhexidine-free central venous catheter which you can choose with confidence for patients who are vulnerable to catheter-related bloodstream infections.

Step 4 - Access: Vadsite is a needle-free access device that has been designed to meet recommendations for reducing CRBSIs, with a fixed straight fluid pathway and low priming volume.

Step 5 - Protection: Curos Port Protector is a disposable passive disinfection device for use with needle-free connectors. Curos can help to standardise practice, and delivers ~5 log reductions in gram positive and negative microorganisms.
