Reducing risk of surgical site infections

ETHICON, a division of JOHNSON & JOHNSON MEDICAL, recognises the significant impact of surgical site infections (SSIs) in the healthcare environment.

Its latest innovations can help reduce the risk of SSIs by providing additional protection in the intraoperative and critical postoperative period.

Coated VICRYL Plus Antibacterial (Polyglactin 910) Suture is effective against the bacteria that cause the majority of surgical site infections, including MRSA.

By preventing bacterial colonisation of the suture, VICRYL Plus suture provides protection for the patient where it is needed most – right at the site of the incision.

DERMABOND ProPen Topical Skin Adhesive (2-Octyl Cyanoacrylate) is clinically proven to close surgical incisions up to 69 cm long and forms a waterproof occlusive dressing with a microbial barrier that seals out bacteria that can lead to infection.
